Artemis G. Hatzigeorgiou
Artemis G. Hatzigeorgiou is a Professor of Bioinformartics at the Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Thessaly and since 2015 a collaborating professor at the Hellenic Pasteur Institute. She has completed basic studies in Informatics at the University of Stuttgart and postgraduate studies in Molecular Biology at the University of Jena. From 2001 to 2007 she was assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania at the Department of Genetics. From 2007, she returned to Greece until 2012 and was a researcher at the Alexandros Fleming Research Center of Biomedical Sciences. She has published in top tier journals as Nature, Science, Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. USA, Am J. Hum. Genet., Genes Dev. , Nat. Methods, Gen. Research. Her works are cited more than 16800 times (h-index 48) according to google scholar. Over the past 10 years, he has published more than 10 publications from Greece classified according to ISI Web of Knowledge as “Highly Cited”, they belong to the highest 1% of their industry articles based on their year of publication. She has also coordinated numerous scientific programs. She has served as a reviewer panelist for the Welcome Trust Sanger Institute (UK), the National Science Foundation (NSF-USA), the National Institute of Health (NIH-USA), the European Union (FP7, CONNECT) and the Greek Secretary of Research and Technology. She is currently president of the Hellenic Society for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (HSCBB) and she was the chair of the 17th European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB18).
