Eliza Zacharopoulou

Elissavet (Eliza) Zacharopoulou holds a BSc in Informatics and Telematics (2017) from Harokopio University and an MSc in Information Technologies in Medicine and Biology (2019) from the University of Athens. She conducted her Master’s thesis, entitled “Automatic extraction of novel lncRNA-miRNA interactions by adopting a text mining approach”, in collaboration with Prof. Artemis Hatzigeorgiou. She has been a member of DIANA-Lab since 2018.

Eliza is currently pursuing her Ph.D. (since 2020) at the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics, University of Thessaly, focusing on the investigation of gene regulatory functions through the extraction and analysis of biological data. Her main research interests lie in the application of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Model (LLM) techniques to extract functional gene-to-gene relationships from the scientific literature.
